Here’s a Peek Inside the Pages: Behind the Scenes of Book #2!
For the past few months, I have been working behind the scenes to make my next picture book a reality. This book will be the next installment in the “Munchkin and Buttercup universe”, with all the fuzzy friends we got to know in The Jealous Little Munchkin.
And I’m grateful to have found the perfect illustrator for this next Munchkin and Buttercup story, Cat Charm!
Cat and I have been collaborating since May. She and I have established designs for the new characters being introduced in this story, and now, we’re in the middle of the storyboarding process.
Until now, the storyboard art has been kept on the down-low. But I have some exciting news: I got the official okay from Cat to lift the curtain and share a few exclusive peeks of our storyboard in progress!

Turning Words Into Art
The storyboarding phase is where the magic truly happens. It is the bridge between the words I wrote and the visual world Cat is building. Seeing how Cat establishes core world-building elements and interprets the emotional beats of the story is easily my favorite part of the picture book making process.

What Happens Next?
Cat and I are still working through the storyboard. At this time, we have moved through the first half of the storyboard and will be working through the next part soon. Every week we’re moving the needle and getting one step closer to a finished book. 💗
